WORK WITH ME

I want a richer public conversation about our emotional worlds.

Teaching

I am a highly experienced teacher, mentor and workshop facilitator.

I taught in the Department of Drama in the School of the Arts at Queen Mary, University of London, for fifteen years. I designed and taught undergraduate courses on cultures of sleep, emotions and performance, and supervised and mentored postgraduates working on MA, MSc and PhD projects on subjects diverse as shamanism, the history of grief and the idea of joy.

I have also taught at the University of Cambridge, Kings College London, Birkbeck College and Royal Holloway. I am a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (distinction, 2018).

I have also taught beyond the university, including at The School of Life and The Weekend University.

My teaching practice draws on my expertise as a writer and researcher, but is also grounded in my years as a theatre practitioner, facilitating creative projects with diverse communities around the world, from London to Harare, Istanbul to New York.

Cultural

I have collaborated with arts organisations, museums and charities.

Recent projects include: curating a Salon at Wellcome Collection’s Reading Room, with talks and artist-led participatory events; consulting on the design and text of the Covidoscope, an online archive project created by the Yunus Emre Institute, Turkey’s cultural institute; bringing together more than thirty women to talk about sex in an Open Space discussion at the National Theatre Studio in London with director Maria Aberg.

Corporate

I have been invited to speak at major marketing agencies, global banks and hospitals.

I gave the keynote presentation for international branding agency Wunderman Thompson’s flagship thought leadership b2b conference ‘Transform’ in 2023. I was invited to speak about ‘Trust’ at the banking giant Intesa Sanpaolo’s senior management conference, reported in The Independent.

As a consultant, I have worked with research and marketing agencies including Starling Strategy, a cultural insights agency based in the UK and with The Research Agency, based in Sydney
